 MODEL TIP #98...

If modeling is the career you want to pursue, you will need to store your photos in a professional portfolio book.  When attending casting calls it’s the first thing a casting agent will request.  Some amateur models would show up with photos in an envelope or 3-ring binder with plastic pages!  Holy Cow! This sends a silent message to casting agents that you are not serious about your career.

JILLIAN PACHECO
PRACTICE YOUR STUNTS
By Belinda Trotter-James
Model Latina is like most of the modeling competitions you see on TV.  One girl at a time gets eliminated.  To the surprise of many no one got eliminated on the first show.  In an exclusive interview I spoke to Jillian who was one of two girls eliminated on the second show.  She is the 18 year old Puerto Rican beauty who lost her change to win the title of Model Latina: South Beach.  Was it fair that no one was eliminated on the first show?  Would it really matter?  If it’s your time to go; fate cannot be stopped…

Question:  Why was it such a surprise that no one was eliminated on the first show?
Jillian:  They told us that someone would be eliminated.  It was surprising that no one went home.  It was not fair that no one went home.  It is a competition.  Now those girls get to stay and I go home.

Question:  Your challenge was a team effort.  You and another contestant were the first to be eliminated.  Why do you think your team was eliminated?
Jillian:  I did not think we had the worst photos but, I could see what the judges said about my facial expressions being off in the shots.  You just never know what the judges are looking for when it comes to elimination.

Question: Do you think your stunt challenge was too difficult?
Jillian: I did not realize that we only had a couple of takes to get the shot.  It was really disappointing because I wanted to show them what I could do.  I took direction from them but I wanted to do other things to get a good shot.  I did not get that chance.  I used to pretend like I was doing stunts with my friends in my backyard when I was a child.  I did stunts all the time.  I did not think the stunts were difficult; that’s why they are called challenges.  You just need the right emotions to get a good shot.

Question:  What were you doing before Model Latina?
Jillian:  I was living in New York City, going to college and modeling on the side as a hobby.  When they called me, I had to take a week off from school.

Question:  I noticed you and the other girls had really strong walks. Who taught you how to walk?
Jillian:  I have been practicing since I was young.  I would do small runway shows and I learned a lot from watching America’s Next Top Model and You Tube videos of runway shows.

Question:  Why did you want to participate in a reality modeling competition?
Jillian:  I grew up watching runway shows and I dreamed of doing it one day.  So I went to an audition not expecting to be picked.  I was so happy I got picked.  In order to participate I would have to leave school for a week.  I was not sure if I wanted to do that but, then I thought I would be crazy not to take advantage of this opportunity.

Question: Now that the competition is over for you, what will you do next?
Jillian:  I live in New Jersey but I will be back in New York City looking for an apartment.  I also go to school in New York.  I plan to do commercials, editorials and some commercial acting to expand my horizons.

It sounds like Jillian has thought out her plan of action and you can keep in touch with her on twitter @Jillian_Pacheco.

Check out Model Latina each week.  Look for day and time in your local listings.  If you miss the show, Modelocity Online magazine will be on point each week to fill you in on all the drama and excitment of seeing one lucky lady turn into a Model Latina!
